Colour-blind attitudes of students at the North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus

Background: Colour-blind attitudes deny racial dynamics and can lead to resistance transformation because there seems be no need for it. This study investigated these amongst students at a university campus engaged with implementing its agenda. Aim: Using survey, the research determined prevalence of colour-blind evaluated social factors that may have contributed attitudes. Setting: The was conducted undergraduates North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, South Africa, in 2017. Methods: A literature review around occurrence associated factors. Race, gender, prejudice, just-world beliefs dominance orientation particular were found contribute quantitative survey then quota sample 300 students. data collected on statistically analysed. Results: students’ moderate. factor race correlated significantly attitudes, but gender did not. Racial prejudice presented medium correlation only small correlation. Conclusion: related prejudice. demonstrates offered room openly discuss engage issues concerning race. difference between findings this extant indicates necessity further qualitative gain more comprehensive understanding about Campus.
